It knows what you got wrong. And what to do about it.
Germane diagnoses every mistake, re-tests it harder, and rebuilds tomorrow's plan around you — all the way to Prelims.

One student, one heading — Environmental Organizations · Environmental Adjudication — tracked as accuracy climbed.
Not a score summary. Each gap is re-tested in the next round — Round 2 tightens the same three before Round 3 closes them.

Got questions?
Is Germane free to use?
Yes. The preparedness check, PYQ browser and question bank preview are free with just a quick phone verification — no app account needed. In the Android app, the free Starter plan covers 2 subjects, Pro covers 3, and Champion unlocks every subject plus current affairs tracking and the personalised revision calendar.
Which subjects does Germane cover for UPSC Prelims?
All 5 core General Studies subjects — Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Environment, Modern History and Geography — plus 8 additional subjects in the PYQ browser, including Science & Technology and International Relations.
How many Previous Year Questions (PYQs) does Germane have?
300 real UPSC Prelims questions from 2024–2026, spanning 13 subjects, each with explanations and AI-generated similar questions.
Do I need to log in to use Germane?
You'll verify your phone number with an OTP to start the preparedness check, or once you go past a few free questions per subject in the PYQ browser and question bank — no app account needed, no password. A full app account is only needed for the complete experience — AI notes, the daily revision calendar and performance dashboard.
How does the revision calendar work?
It uses spaced repetition based on your quiz performance — weak topics come back for revision in 1-3 days, while topics you know well space out to every 15 days — so time goes to what you actually need to revisit.
Does Germane cover current affairs for UPSC Prelims?
Yes. Current affairs are mapped to your static syllabus lessons and refreshed every 2 days — when Parliament passes a bill, for example, it links back to the relevant Polity notes — so you understand context instead of memorising isolated news.
What are AI Cornell notes?
Structured, exam-focused notes generated per lesson using the Cornell note-taking method — cues, summary and detail in one layout, built around what UPSC Prelims actually tests rather than full textbook chapters.
Does Germane cover UPSC Mains?
Not currently — Germane is focused entirely on UPSC Prelims General Studies Paper 1: PYQs, notes and revision tools for Indian Polity, Economy, Environment, Modern History and Geography.
Is Germane available on iOS?
Germane is currently available on Android, with an iOS version coming soon.
How is the Exam Readiness Score different from a plain accuracy percentage?
It's weighted by exam importance, not a simple average. Importance and PYQ history both act as multipliers, so a weak but rarely-tested topic barely moves your score, while a weak, PYQ-heavy topic drags it down hard — so the score itself tells you what to prioritise.
What happens when I get a question wrong?
The app names the exact misconception — not just 'wrong answer' — and re-tests that same idea at a harder level in your next quiz. Nothing you get wrong stays wrong; each gap is checked again until it's closed.
